UK Salivary Gland Cancer Research Working Group (UKSGCRWG)

UK Salivary Gland Cancer Research Working Group

Here you can find out about the background, current activities, workstreams and members of the working group.

Background

Following the closure of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI), this working group was tasked 'to identify the gaps in Salivary Gland Cancer Research and develop strategic priorities for this area of research'.

In March 2024 the group met, brainstormed, shared their work and interests and, identified a list of research questions (RQ).

Following a subsequent prioritisation exercise, four workstreams were launched representing the top four priorities.

Current workstreams

RQ 1.  Address the utility of Guidelines for Salivary Gland Cancers (SGC)

RQ 2.  Assess the variation in histopathology reporting for Salivary Gland Cancers (SGC)

RQ 3.  Standardise the decision-making processes for patients who have technically operable, Salivary Gland Cancer (SGC), where the surgery carries high morbidity

RQ 4.  Improve the diagnostic pathway for Salivary Gland Cancer (SGC) patients

Please note that the top four priorities are on a ‘rolling’ basis i.e we have identified a longer list of RQ’s and when possible, will move priorities up that list.  Therefore, if you are interested in joining the UK Salivary Gland Research Working Group but do not wish to join a specific RQ 1-4 workstream, we welcome your application.  Please provide the information requested below, briefly stating your interest in the Working Group rather than a specific Workstream and send to [email protected].

If you would like to join the working group and/or specifically one of the workstreams, please provide the following to [email protected].
