Dawn's tips for someone close to someone with Salivary Gland Cancer
Dawn share her suggestions for someone close to someone with Salivary Gland Cancer in this short video
What advice would you give to someone close to someone with Salivary Gland Cancer?
I think if I was advising, someone who is surrounding someone that that's got cancer, I think be sensitive to the fact it is that person that's at the centre of this thing that's happening to them. It's not helpful when someone comes to tell you their story of their friend, or grandparent, who had cancer and whatever their journey was.
One of the things that my friends and family did was they organised a rota of people who would come and see me or phone me, or check in. So I knew that I had things to look forward to, when I couldn't get out and about.
I mean, being treated normally wherever possible and being taken out, even if it's just to have a wander around Tesco or whatever, that's really, really helpful. I think at the worst times with the food, I was always not wanting to see my husband eating something really delicious right next to me! So, you know, he would be sensitive about that.
