Some fundraising ideas

There are so many ways to fundraise for SGC UK – and help fund vital research and support for those with salivary gland cancers.

You can hold an event. Coffee mornings are always popular. As are themed dinners, whether they’re seasonal (Hogmanay, Mexican Day of the Dead, or an Iftar meal) or based on national cuisines (Italian, Caribbean, or Indian for example). Events aren’t all about food. You could have a wine tasting, quiz night, bingo evening, auction of promises, dance night, games night (dig out the monopoly), gaming evening (bring on the Wii) or a fancy-dress party.

Or you could start a 30-day challenge - cycling, swimming, yoga, Zumba or covering specific household chores for 30 days. Perhaps you could give up something for a set amount of time – cakes, chocolate, booze, TV soaps, your smart phone, make up – the possibilities are endless.

If you’re green fingered, how about opening up your garden for an entry fee?  Or being sponsored to do something dramatic – like sky diving, zip wiring, shaving off your beard – or your hair – staying silent all weekend, or perhaps most terrifying of all, allowing a group of friends to choose your outfit for the day! Or how about a sweepstake? For example – how many sweets in the jar – a pound a go – nearest wins the goodies. Or you could get together with friends to sell your vintage clothes items via an online app, or in person at a clothes swap event with an entry fee.
